Açucareira de Xinavane, a dilapidated sugar mill, built in the very beginning, thrived in the middle, and survived the war by the last quarter of the previous century, was upgraded during 2001. I was involved with SIEMENS doing the refurbishing of the electrical and instrumentation installations. I had a good time, explored the coastline, traveled lesser known roads, experienced the warm friendliness of the local people, their peaceful lifestyle. I had some bad times too by contracted malaria and followed it up with pneumonia.
